Three Rules for Baking with Rumble Supershake

We’ve shared so many delicious baking recipes featuring Rumble (see full list below!) - but it’s easy to create your own Rumble cookies, cakes, bars and treats, too.  All you need is a little creativity and a bit of baking knowledge to turn your favourite recipe into something naturally awesome with Rumble.

By substituting Rumble when baking, you'll be adding flavour, protein, fibre, healthy fats, and more goodness. Here's what you need to know to do it right.

1. Balance your liquids

The ratio between liquid and dry ingredients in your recipe is the most important thing to keep in mind when substituting Rumble. To maintain the integrity and texture of your recipe, you’ll want to ensure the ratios between dry and wet ingredients remain the same when you add or substitute Rumble.

Easy substitutions include 1:1 Rumble in place of milk, buttermilk, yogurt and applesauce.

Things get a bit trickier if you want to add Rumble and take out oil, butter, sugar, syrup, or eggs to compensate. Which brings us to our next tip:

2. Adjust for sweetness and fat

Because Rumble doesn’t just contain protein but also fibre, healthy fats, and sweetness (from maple syrup, brown rice syrup, and a touch of stevia) you may need to adjust your other ingredients to get the flavour profile you’d like when baking.

For example, if substituting Rumble for milk in a recipe, you may want to reduce the sugar your recipe calls for, so the sweetness of the Rumble doesn’t make your end product too sweet. The same goes for oils and fat - you may need to add more or less to your recipe to keep a similar ratio after you substitute Rumble.

3. Experiment!

Rumble gives a different texture and taste to a baking recipe than milk or yogurt or any other liquid, so it’s important to experiment!

Don’t be afraid to try your batter and adjust the liquids, thicken it up, or add more sugar or flavouring (like cocoa powder) if it’s not tasting or looking right before baking. It may take a couple tries before you land on a recipe you like - but the results will be worth it!

Happy baking!
